Getting closer ...

So, for those of you who are just joining us: I'm Denise. I write stuff. (Lots and lots and lots of stuff.) I'm two weeks away from quitting my dot.com job with Six Apart (makers of the software this blog runs on!) in order to write full-time. I'm a little bit excited and a little bit scared -- okay, a lot excited and a lot scared, but who's counting?

I spent the day working on the website -- including a good hour or so of "reload?"/"no dice" type troubleshooting with the Minion, who was testing in browsers I don't have available to me. (Props to the Minion, who figured out the problem.) Aside from the placeholder text in the main body, it's starting to look pretty good, I think. Take a gander!

I'm a real firm believer in the creative commons, in the digital gift economy, and in the ongoing conversation of the marketplace of ideas. I'll be writing things for the traditional publishing model, but I'll also be writing stuff here just for you guys. from ultra-short pieces to short stories to entire novels. I've already reprinted some old stuff I had lying around, and I'll be adding more. I'm going to try to do a weekly Flash Fiction Friday -- something posted every Friday at the very least. Most of my stuff will be released under a Creative Commons license, but I haven't quite decided what yet, so that's still up in the air. *g*
